Goethe-Zertifikat A1 (Start German 1) Exam Schedule

The official list below shows reserved time periods - not confirmed exams. Please confirm with your instructor whether or not your course will be taking its final exam within this period.

Before registering, make sure to read the Goethe exam guidelines and the terms and conditions on each exam page. Make sure you register for the appropriate level of the exam.

Locations

If you require special accommodations due to chronic illness or hearing or visual impairment, you should contact the exam provider directly and make sure to submit a thorough documentation at the time of registration.

The Faculty Dashboard in Workday includes the option of "View My Teaching Schedule" that allows faculty to locate their exam schedules. In addition, the Registrar's Office has a list of exam times for courses that have exams required by NYSED regulations. For evening classes final exams are scheduled at the normal class time during the final week of exams.

Registration

Students are advised to check the exam schedule online. However, it is important to keep in mind that the final exam schedule may alter at any moment. This is why students should check with their instructors to ensure that they have the correct date and time for their exam. Students should also print out the official list of questions to bring to their exam.

In addition to the exam schedule, students must familiarize themselves with the exam guidelines and the terms and conditions. These are on the page for each exam. Students acknowledge having read and agreed to the conditions and terms of registration.

Exam locations try their best to accommodate those who have special needs. The nature and extent of these needs must be stated on the registration form and confirmed by a medical attestation. Additionally the exam sites must be kept confidential.

If a student is scheduled to take three examinations scheduled on the same day, it is suggested that they contact their instructor or department to arrange a make-up exam. It is possible to take three examinations on the same day. However, this can cause a lot of stress and can affect the quality of the exam. Additionally, the professor might not be able offer a makeup exam on a different day.



Students should review their course material before taking the exam and must practice their German skills. The test is a written test that measures your ability to read and write German. The results of the exam are presented on a scale from A1 to C2. Students who succeed in passing the test are awarded an Goethe-Zertifikat. The certificate confirms that the student has attained the level of A1 in their language. This level is the first stage of the six-level scale of competence that is set out in the Common European Framework of Reference for Foreign Languages. The exam is free of cost. Students must carry an official government ID to the exam. Anyone who does not have a valid photo ID will be disqualified from the exam.

Fees

You will have to pay an exam fee in order to obtain the Goethe-Zertifikat (start German 1) after you have completed your Elan Academy studies. This is in addition to the cost of the course.

Practice tests give you an overview of the format and wording, as well as the difficulty of questions on the exam. They allow you to assess your understanding, find gaps and improve your chances of passing the exam.
